Speakers

Stephen Homer

Stephen is a Partner and Head of Adjudication and Arbitration Services at Ashfords. He specialises in construction procurement and contentious construction and engineering matters including projects support and drafting and negotiating construction contracts, court proceedings, adjudications and professional negligence claims. With over 20 years' experience, he has recently acted for a number of major UK Contractors as well as developers, banks, local authorities, utility companies and consultants providing contentious and non-contentious construction law advice in a number of sectors including the energy sector. Stephen is a construction adjudicator on a number of industry panels, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a practising mediator. He was one of the first batch of construction adjudicators when legislation first introduced the role in 1998 and undertook advanced adjudicator training at Warwick in 2005. He has adjudicated on a wide range of disputes involving nationally recognised contractors, employers, developers and architectural practices through to local small clients and builders, on valuation, quality of work, programme extension of time and professional negligence, fee dispute and recovery matters. David has also represented adjudicating parties and acts as a construction expert witness in litigation. He has lectured regularly at Plymouth University and on the RIBA CPD circuit on contract law-procedure, architects appointments and adjudication.
