The double act is back for a 2019 update!

Join Nick Linford and ILR funding auditor Karl Bentley from RSM for this technical and in depth practical workshop - based on lessons from the new ESFA audits in the summer of 2019.

Apprenticeship starts since May 2017 face a particular set of new ESFA audit tests for levy and non-levy funds. Karl has recently undertaken a series of the new financial assurance audits in the summer of 2019 on behalf of the ESFA and in this technical workshop will guide delegates through the process and what to look out for to protect your funding.

Particular focus will be on aspects such as the off-the-job calculation and evidence requirements, accounting for prior learning and evidence and eligible costs for the negotiated rate.

Funding/MIS staff will benefit, such as from:

This workshop is brought to you by Nick Linford, author of the Complete Guide to Funding Apprenticeships and both the Hands-on guide to post-16 funding and the Hands-on guide to post-16 performance and data published by Pearson. Nick was Director of Planning and Performance at Lewisham College for six years whilst also playing a leading role in capacity building on the use of funding performance, data quality and curriculum planning in the learning and skills sector. Nick Linford

Nick Linford is an expert in further education funding and performance systems and a company director of Lsect Ltd.

He runs a series of popular workshops, conferences and webinars about funding and data, which have been attended by more than 15,000 people in the last six years.

Nick is also author of the Complete Guide to Funding Apprenticeships (, two books about funding and data published by Pearson and the founding editor for Lsect’s weekly newspapers: FE Week ( and Schools Week (

Prior to setting-up Lsect in 2010 Nick established an education think tank at the publishers Pearson, and before that was for seven years Director of Planning and Performance at the Lewisham College, during which time they achieved an Ofsted 'outstanding' grade.
