Event description

Description

The apprenticeship funding reforms rolled out on 1 May, and providers are now starting to see for real how the training and assessment market is changing along with the associated systems and compliance requirements.

Using all new training material, Nick Linford will share business critical information to help successfully plan, fund and grow compliant apprenticeship provision.

So join Nick Linford, author of the Complete Guide to Funding Apprenticeships, for this technical and in depth practical workshop with lots of worked examples for providers working with levied and non-levied employers. Designed for those relatively little knowledge as well as the funding experts, all resources from the workshop will be shared with delegates, including an editable version of the MS Excel modelling tool.

Register today as this workshop is likely to quickly sell-out (bookings can be made by invoice and cancellations made 7 or more days before the event incur no charge).

Agenda
10.00 Registration

10.30 From frameworks to standards - getting the growth strategy and pricing model right
Nick will outline the latest market analysis, highlighting which standards are already proving popular and at what sorts of fees. Most importantly, delegates will be given the knowledge to pick winners, stay ahead of the competition and draw out key information from the official statistics.

11.00 Building your own dynamic apprenticeship planning and modelling system
Incorporating the funding methodology and eligible costs, Nick will provide a technical briefing on how to build your own levy modelling system in MS Excel. Dynamic planning tools are invaluable when pitching to employers and tendering for levy and non-levy funding.

12.00 Break for refreshments

12.15 The End Point Assessment market - how to choose your EPA org?
The all new EPA market is growing rapidly, with 94 organisations already approved to assess standards. One standard is already offered by 19 EPAs. Nick will show delegates how to support employers when picking a high quality EPA that meets their cost and delivery requirements.

12.35 Reformed achievement rates, Minimum Standards and preparing for Ofsted
The ESFA has now incorporated apprenticeship standards into their achievement rate and Minimum Standards methodology for 2016/17, which will be explained by Nick in detail. Knowledge of the official performance regime is vital for self-assessment, target setting and preparing for Ofsted. Nick will also outline some of the latest thinking from Ofsted in terms of their expectations.

13.00 Break for lunch

13:50 Compliance - making the off-the-job training requirement a success
One of the biggest challenges facing providers is proving to be the off-the-job training requirement for apprentices. Nick will outline exactly what is and isn't permitted along with examples of how providers can successfully design the requirement into their programmes and evidence packs.

14:10 Compliance - ongoing monitoring and making the most of the ESFA funding systems
Six months into the reforms and we are starting to understand the key interplay between ESFA software such as the Apprenticeship System, Hub, FIS and DSAT. Using anonomised but real data, Nick will outline how to make best use of these systems and the reports they produce. This session will also be useful preparation for the new ESFA monitoring visits and ongoing audit in the reformed system.

15:00 System changes and reforms - what to expect and being prepared
The ESFA has begun to outline technical enhancements to their apprenticeship systems, such as the introduction of a 'trusted provider status' as well as levy fund transfers between employers. Nick will outline what the ESFA is currently developing and the expected timescales for implementation. Keeping up with the reforms and being able to successfully guide employers through constant change is a huge competitive advantage.

15.30 Workshop end
