THE APPRENTICESHIP REFORMS & LEVY: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

A series of FREE events providing key information about the Apprenticeship Reforms and levy, what the levy will mean for your organisation and how the Bradford College Group can help you make the most of the levy.

What is the Apprenticeship Levy?

From April 2017, all employers with a payroll bill of more than £3m will pay a 0.5% Apprenticeship Levy which will be collected by HMRC via PAYE. Employers can then access the levy they have paid to fund apprenticeship training in their business.

The levy is being introduced to help fund employer apprenticeship schemes and to deliver 3 million apprenticeships by 2020.

What are the reforms?

Payroll bill: £3m and above

All employers with a payroll bill of more than £3m will pay a 0.5% Apprenticeship Levy which will be collected by HMRC via PAYE. Employers can then access the levy they have paid to fund apprenticeship training in their business.

Payroll bill: Under £3m

Employers with a payroll bill of under £3m will be funded through the‘co-investment model’.

Incentives

There are a range of incentives and payments available for smaller employers

When are the reforms happening?

The reforms are fast approaching – they will come into effect from 1 May 2017.

Bradford College and its apprenticeship arm, City Training Services, are hosting a series of events in February and March exclusively for levy paying organisations.

The events will include:

Presentation on the levy, its impact on your business and the opportunities it presents.

  • Guest speaker from one of our region’s major employers discussing how they implement apprenticeships into their organisation and how they are planning for the levy.
  • Open forum of delegate questions and discussion.

These events will help you prepare for this major change, share best practice across industry and provide you with an opportunity to raise any questions or specific clarifications you may need on what the levy means for your business and its impact on workforce planning.
