April First Tuesday: Stress doesn't have to be bad for us?!
Event Information
About this Event
This First Tuesday meeting will be a time for us to listen to a TED talk on how our attitude to stress affects our health more than the stress itself.
We will listen to Kelly McGonigal's 2013 TED talk, where she translates academic research on into practical strategies.
Running a business can be very stressful, plus over the last year, so many changes have caused so much stress for many. I have personally had several big things I've needed to adapt & cope with & I know others have to, so I have decided to focus this meeting on thinking about stress and how our attitude can have a big affect.
I first listened to this talk years ago & was amazed by the science behind how our attitude affects our health. Listen with me & then we will discuss our thoughts on this & how easy we think it will or not, to alter our attitudes.
You're invited you to join me, and like-minded others to do some thinking, exploring, & talking about issues that matter to us in our work.
Emma Torrance, owner of THiNK will be hosting tonight’s network. She has a SFEDI practitioners qualification in advising businesses & specialised in Social Enterprise, and has worked with many freelancers, private businesses and social enterprises. Emma works with people providing mentoring, business advice and workshops.
Who should come?
It is for those wanting to think about how to reduce the impact of stress on our work and personal lives.
Our event will be held online via zoom.
This network is about providing a supportive space for helping socially-minded people to share ideas and develop as sole traders or businesses. It is for those wanting to think about some ethical and value based business issues and for those that want to incorporate their values in their business or do good in their business.
We are likely to be a small group as we stopped running this network for much of the lockdown, smaller numbers normally means we get to have a really good conversation.
The First Tuesday network is run by THiNK, and runs on the First Tuesday of the month and we collect £5.50 towards costs.
