About this event
At the October café we will be talking about what expectant parents often call the ‘12 week scan’. For many, it is after this scan that they excitedly announce their pregnancy to family and friends; for others it is the source of anxiety and distress when the sonographer sees something unexpected. We’ll discuss how best to provide individualised care at what can be a fraught time.
We welcome any healthcare professional who works in antenatal care to this session. Please do feel able to bring your own experiences, ideas, opinions and questions to this session for discussion.
Please note that this session is intended as a safe space for healthcare professionals to discuss challenges in their daily work and is not intended for people who are looking for support following a personal experience. If you are looking for support following a personal experience, please do instead feel able to contact us on info@arc-uk.org or call our helpline on 020 7713 7486.
About ARC's Case Cafés
On the second Wednesday of each month we run a free Zoom session for all healthcare professionals working in or with an interest in antenatal screening, diagnosis and its consequences. We aim to provide an informal forum for discussion on all aspects of this complex area of healthcare. It's an opportunity to share experiences and ideas with colleagues from a variety of settings and question ARC about the feedback we get from parents.
Whilst we will provide a suggested topic for the sessions, the goal is for these sessions to function as a space where you can bring your own cases and interests, so please do join to share your own questions.
About ARC
ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices) is the only national charity providing non-directive, individualised information and support through antenatal screening and diagnosis. ARC exists to support parents in making informed and personal decisions about their pregnancy. This includes providing information regarding combined screening, NIPT, diagnostic testing and what pathways may involve when decisions are made about the future of the pregnancy. ARC provides specialised emotional support in recognition of the fact that antenatal screening and its consequences may cause uncertainty and anxiety.
This is a free event. Please contact Jane (jane@arc-uk.org) with any questions.
