About this event

Health • Mental health

Photography is a great way to take notice, connect and feel better. Whether you’re a budding photographer or have never created a photo before, join us for a walk around Stockport to experience the wellbeing benefits of photography and connecting with nature.

You'll be guided through the walk, focusing on prompts as we walk, talk and capture our surroundings in the heart of Stockport. We'll be on hand to help get the images you want to take or discuss ideas and techniques. Meet at Arc at Hat Works at 10:30. The walk lasts about an hour before returning to Arc's cafe where we'll share images and discuss our experiences. The maximum size of the group will be 18 people.

Previous participants have said:

''The mindfulness relaxation really helped me to clear my mind of other things and relax, it really does help you to slow down. Its amazing how many tips about using my phone camera I have picked up today. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming''.

''I didn’t know how to focus until you showed me, I’m really proud of the images I have taken today.''

''Great as always! I always enjoy the meditation, it loosens you up and helps you to focus more.''

This is a free event as part of Stockport Arts and Health Week. However, we are a charity and are in need of donations, so please donate any amount affordable to you via this link https://arc-centre.org/donate-to-arc, or in person by cash or card when visiting our centre.

Hat Works Cafe is open from 10:00 until 16:00 on Thursdays (and Fridays, 11:00-15:00 on Saturdays), if you'd like a coffee beforehand or a toastie / soup afterwards.
