Event description

Description

A. Do you Play the games?

B. Make your own game?

----

A. Come to MakerDifference Launch on the 18th of November.

B. Register for the Game Hackday on the 2nd of December.

The Arcade of Babel is an arcade of text based computer games that explore how we read in public and use libraries. Come along to a free hackday and learn how to MAKE games for the arcade and more!

Part of a series of FREE participatory Game-jams for the public, we will prototype games made playable in game cabinets, echoing the arcades of the 1980s. These games will inform the co-design of an RFID tag driven text adventure game using AVATAP, a game system Domestic Science developed with ShrimpingIt.

AVATAP was developed for Milecastles as a new form of text based gaming that rewards physical exploration and reading. Part story, part digital trail, part treasure hunt, players use their RFID adventure tag to discover the game and the many books and collections of Liverpool Libraries.

Come along to the MakerDifference launch on the 18th of November at Toxth Library and ask us any questions!

MakerDifference is supported by Arts Council England.
