Taking place over three days (Friday 26th - Sunday 28th September) "Arcadian Thames Afloat" is a unique opportunity to get afloat at Twickenham's riverside, and take a (powered, no need to row!) 40-minute roundtrip boat trip along one of the prettiest stretches of the Thames.
There are 7 boat trips each day, starting at 11am and departing on the hour every hour, with the last departure at 5pm. With each excursion limited to just 10 passengers on board a comfortable open top craft, these boat trips promise to be a memorable experience of the historic and bucolic Thames at Twickenham and Richmond.
The Thames at Twickenham and beyond is part of what has come to be known as - by reason of its beauty - Arcadian Thames. This particular stretch lies 'between the locks' at Richmond and Teddington, with Twickenham and Eel Pie Island situated in the middle. Grand houses sit on the riverbanks, sounds ring out from working boatyards and chatter can be heard from various riverside pubs and cafes.
Leaving from central Twickenham, your c.40-minute cruise will take you downriver to Richmond, past Ham House and Marble Hill House, past Richmond Hill and Petersham Meadows along to central Richmond Riverside to then turn around just past Richmond Riverside, before heading back to take in Eel Pie Island.
During your trip, intermittent commentary will be provided by knowledgeable volunteers from a local riverside charity, the Twickenham Riverside Trust.
These boat trips are part of the month-long Totally Thames Festival organised by the Thames Festival Trust which takes place every September.
