Event description

Description

An exciting day of seven presentations about the rich heritage of the Severn Estuary and its surrounding wetlands including investigating the deep prehistoric landscapes under Weston-super-Mare, recent excavations of an Iron Age and Roman site at Congresbury, the very rare discovery of a Roman pottery production site at Banwell and uncovering Weston-Super-Mare's hidden hillfort - Worlebury Camp. Also the fascinating documentary evidence for trade along the Severn in the 16th century, the character of the levels before enclosure and how they were finally tamed and protected from flooding.

Morning and afternoon tea and coffee will be provided but not lunch.
