Archaeology of the Western Isles II: Skye and the Outer Hebrides
Fri 17 February 2017, 11:00 – 16:00 GMT
The West Coast of Scotland with its many island and inlets is a deeply maritime landscape, where over thousands of years the main links were on water rather than on land, with little interest in the Eastern and inland parts of Scotland.
Moving north from Argyll last term, we will look at the Archaeology of the Outer Hebrides and Skye, focusing on the complex roundhouses that developed in the area from the Bronze Age onwards, the lron Age Brochs, to the Early Medieval and Viking landscapes of Lewis.
