The Archaeology Section of the Société Jersiaise caters for people who would like to know more about Jersey’s past through its archaeological study.
The Archaeology Section meets every Thursday between 7.30 and 9.30pm at the Section Rooms at La Hougue Bie. Sometimes the venue/time will change depending what’s on, but that will be in our own weekly update. The activities of the Section are varied and may involve:
- Sorting, cleaning and cataloguing finds
- research and preparation for future archaeological surveys and excavations
- surveys and excavations
- maintenance of Société archaeological sites around the Island
- talks and presentations
- assisting other archaeologists (visiting and outside of the Island)
If you are interested in participating in Section activities, in addition or alternatively to registering an interest on EventBrite, please contact the Section Chair Marc Yates on archaeology@societe.je to check and confirm time and place of next meeting / work session.
