ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION CPD

Principles and Best Practice for Traditional and Historic Buildings

Whether you are starting out in a buildings related career, looking to refresh your conservation knowledge, encounter historic buildings as part of your work portfolio, or have limited knowledge of the best conservation practice to employ on a project involving historic buildings, this is the CPD programme for you.

Traditional and historic buildings are an integral part of Perth and Kinross's built environment with many of its population centres, such as Perth, celebrated for their rich historic character. Whilst valued, historic buildings are often considered difficult to maintain, expensive to repair and their traditional methods of construction complicated to refurbish and align with modern building regulations. This CPD series offers key information to help you unlock their potential.

About the Programme

This 6 session programme of CPD has been put together specifically with architects, surveyors, building standards, planning, trades and construction professionals in mind, offering comprehensive introductions with practical examples on a range of essential topics. It runs from April to November with a break over the school summer holidays and takes place at a regular 1 hour lunchtime slot at the end of the month. Sessions are delivered in Perth by industry accredited professionals and are recognised CPD by the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) and Scottish Traditional Building Forum (STBF).

'Architectural Conservation CPD' forms part of Perth City Heritage Fund's ongoing work to encourage the regeneration of Perth's historic buildings using traditional materials and skill and in accordance with best conservation practice. Perth City Heritage Fund is managed by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust and supported by Historic Environment Scotland.
