Architectural Drawing: a two-day Masterclass

Saturday 23rd June, 10.30am-4.30pm (Wallace Collection)

and

Saturday 30th June 10.30am-4.30pm (RIBA)

Develop your drawing abilities and learn new creative skills through exploration of the outstanding works of art and interiors of the Wallace Collection and the world-class architectural collections of the RIBA.

The theme of this course is ‘identity’ and we will be looking at the character of London’s architecture, how it has shaped its inhabitants and how they, in turn, have shaped their environment. We will look more generally at how London’s architecture has developed throughout history, as well exploring at street level the neighbourhood of Marylebone, an area rich in local detail but also a part of London’s varied urban fabric.

Build your confidence in using the built environment to progress your drawing skills in different media, whilst learning about the history of London’s architecture. Over two days, artist and teacher Wilson Yau will guide you in the studio and through visits to the Wallace Collection and the RIBA.

Suitable for all abilities, you will create using a range of media, from traditional paper-based techniques using pencil and pen, to experimenting with contemporary digital drawing using iPads. By the end of the workshop you will have produced a portfolio of architectural drawings, learnt new ways of creating images of the built environment and gained a more in depth understanding of the capital’s architecture.
