Event description

Description

Join the Cultural Communications and Computing Research Institute (C3RI) at Sheffield Hallam University for a two day workshop on Architecture Visualisation in Virtual Reality. C3RI will show you how an architectural concept can be translated into an immersive VR experience with cutting edge software.

With the rise of VR and AR, this workshop will demonstrate a future for Arch Viz and Architecture as a whole. The aim of the workshop is to show how effective Arch Viz in VR can be and how it can be applied in many different ways; from visualising early concepts of buildings, to giving clients and home seekers an immersive experience of their potential new house.

What will you gain from the workshop?

In VR you can experience the space as it would be in front of you. You can gauge the size and feel of a space, see whether certain elements fit, and more. It makes the conceptual stage very interactive, with allowing for more collaboration and engagement between the concept maker, the architects and even the construction team and prospecting clients. The workshop will combine VR with Unreal Engine which allows the user to quickly alter dimensions of a space, the interior layout and furniture, right down to the specific materials and lighting conditions.

Experts will show you what it would take to create these VR experiences and how you can go about it yourself. Experience the software hands-on and interact with the hardware with demonstrations across the two days.

Who should attend and when is it?

This workshop is relevant to those in architecture and design areas related to Architectural Visualisation and both days must be attended.

Day 1: Wednesday 23rd May, 9:30am - 4:30pm

Day 2: Thursday 24th May, 9:30am - 2:30pm

This workshop is for Sheffield regional SMEs. Places may be limited to one person per eligible company.
