Event description
Join architect and former town councillor Colin Cobb for an exploration of civic and public projects.

About this Event

What is the civic impact of a major project on a city or town?

Should architects involve themselves in the political and civic life of where they live and work?

Join architect and former town councillor Colin Cobb for an exploration of the way that civic and public projects come about and how architects engage themselves with that process.

From the grand scale of University projects and city masterplans to re-imagining the role of a parish council to make real projects happen, Colin will make a plea to architects to actively engage themselves in civic life.

About the speaker:

Colin Cobb is an associate at FCB Studios and was the project architect of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, a state of the art music college for Birmingham City University specifically designed to cater for the demands of the digital age, which features a 480 seat orchestral concert hall, multiple smaller venues and a suite of recording studios.

Colin served as an independent town councillor in Frome from 2015 - 2019 overseeing the conversion of the Town Hall, co-chairing the Planning Advisory Group and sitting on the Saxonvale steering group.
