Description

The University of Stirling Archives holds a wide range of unique collections which provide a rich research resource across a range of subjects. This tour will highlight material relating to the University’s research theme of Global Security & Resilience. Join our archive team to find out more about the nineteenth century origins of aquaculture preserved in our Howietoun Archive; the struggles for independence across Southern Africa documented in our Peter Mackay Archive; and how our Scottish Political Archive can provide an insight into international diplomacy and NATO.

Speaker bios:

Karl Magee

A graduate of University College Dublin, Karl qualified as an archivist in 1993. Since then he has worked in a number of large cultural institutions including the National Archives of Ireland and the Mitchell Library, Glasgow. As University Archivist Karl is responsible for the preservation, management and promotion of Stirling’s collections. Researchers from around the world visit the University Archives to consult material covering a wide range of subjects including film, medicine, sport and politics. Karl is the archival curator of the touring exhibition Hosts and Champions: Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.
