About this event
Let your creativity run wild and have a royally good time at our fun family day inspired by artworks from our Happy & Glorious exhibition and our collection.
The showcase event of the day is Fold Your Archive - a collaborative art instillation run by A Line Art with families making paper versions of some of the incredible items in our collection to help grow a large scale paper archive.
- Draw, colour and decorate your own version of some of the incredible treasures we look after and add them to a 2D version of our repositories with Fold Your Archive - a collaborative art project that will grow and evolve over the day facilitated by A Line Art.
- Discover more about the incredible royal seals in our collection and make your own with a hands-on Time Travel Club session.
- Craft crowns and other beautiful origami creations with artist Toshiko Kurata,
- Take part in colourful crafting or a song and storytelling sessions celebrating the joy of diversity, difference and everything that makes people unique with Olly from Pop ‘n’ Olly.
- Make your own colourful coronation inspired artworks to take home.
- Find a secret agent from the Second World War hiding in plain sight and meet their handler in Agent Rendezvous, an interactive theatre experience by Time Will Tell.
- Get a majestic make over with Arty Cat Facepainting.
- Our new summer Ministry of Time Travel Mission will also be running on the day and you can book a space to play here. This activity has an additional charge

Key Event Information
This event will take place on Level one of The National Archives in Kew, Richmond.
All persons attending the event require a ticket for entry - children and adults. Please don't book an add on booked activity without a general entry ticket.
A ticket to the Archives Adventure family day does not guarantee entry to the MI5: Official Secrets exhibitions. There may be queues and a wait to enter the exhibition and last entry is at 3 PM.
Activities will be running throughout the day. Feel free to drop-in for a session or spend the whole day with us. All of our activities are taking place on level one at our site in Kew.
We don't have any childcare facilities, so you'll need to stay with your children at all times during the event.
Quiet break out spaces will be available on level one.
The cafe and shop will be open through out the event.
Getting Here and Parking
The closest station to The National Archives is Kew Gardens, approximately 10 mins walk away. It is serviced by the London Overground and District lines.
While we do have onsite parking available we encourage visitors to use public transport if they can. Visitor parking will be free but limited.

Frequently asked questions
You are very welcome to bring your own food and drinks to the festival day as well as purchased refreshments from our vendors, Maids of Honour. Our grounds are a lovely space to share a picnic lunch!
