The Section for New Professionals is hosting an event at the Manchester Meeting Place on Friday 5th April.

The event will run from 14:00-16:30, with registration starting at 13:40. The focus of the afternoon will be on diversity in the Archives workforce and methods of improving inclusivity.

The event will feature talks from Jasspreet Thethi from John Rylands library, Tola Dabiri from Tola Dabiri Consulting, and Kevin Bolton, Archives, Libraries and Heritage consultant at Kevinjbolton Ltd.

Itinerary:

1:40-2:00 Registration

2:00-2:10 Introduction

2:10-3:00 Tola Dabiri and Kevin Bolton - Literature and project review looking at workforce diversity in the heritage sector

3:00-3:30 Break

3:30-4:15 Jasspreet Thethi - Experience as a woman of colour in the museum sector and developing sensitivity training

4:15-4:30 Summary

Refreshments will be provided free of charge.

This is an excellent opportunity for new professionals to meet and share knowledge and informal networking will be held at a pub following the event.
