About this event

Community • Heritage

Islington Archives open our doors for a monthly drop-in on the last Thursday of each month, where you can view a display of our fascinating collections.

Islington has been home to a number of pioneering political figures, such as Britain’s first Asian MP, Dadabhai Naoroji, the first Black woman Mayor of Islington, Cllr Valda James, and the first openly gay Mayor in England, Bob Crossman. This Archives Drop-In event will feature a display of unique items from our collections relating to some of these fascinating political figures.

You will see items such as election ephemera, typescript speeches and press cuttings, including some uncatalogued material which is not usually available for public view. This is an opportunity to see unique archival material up close and at your own pace.

The event is free to attend, but please book a timed slot.
