Event description

Description

Climate change is already impacting people and nature across our planet. Nowhere more so than in the Arctic, climate change’s front line. As their nearest neighbour, Scotland has a responsibility to listen to the first-hand experience of people in the Arctic, and then to act.

Please join WWF Scotland, to hear from and meet two inspirational indigenous leaders from the Arctic:

  • Jannie Staffansson, environmental chemist and climate change campaigner who works for the Saami Council, which represents Saami from across Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.
  • Sarah James, a member of the Gwich’in Steering Committee, awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize and a member of the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame.

The event takes place on the two year anniversary of the Paris Climate Change Agreement, and in advance of discussion of a new Scottish Climate Change law.

Kindly hosted by Gail Ross MSP
