Join us online on Thursday the 11th of September at 12:30 for an engaging discussion on whether sustainable cities are a prerequisite for business.
We will be joined by Chris Ford who has more than 35 years experience as a consultant within the region. Starting from the idea of "sustainable cities and communities" (SDG 11) we will use the needs of our industrial heritage and for adaptation to climate change to inform our discussions.
This event is part of a series of online workshops on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
By focusing on sustainability, the region can balance economic growth with environmental preservation and social progress, ensuring a thriving future for its people, businesses, and ecosystems.
