Event - Are the Sikh Community dealing with Mental Health issues?

Venue - Imperial College, Skempton Building, SW7 2BB.

Date - Nov 22nd

Time - 6pm-8.30pm (discussion starts at 6.30pm).

Format - The Sikh Press Association will host an open forum discussion where the audience and a specially selected panel of Sikh community figures experienced in the area of mental health will answer questions about the myths, the taboos and just exactly what is and what can be done to deal with mental health issues within the community.

Panel -

Baljit Singh - Sikh educator for Everythings 13 - Basics of Sikhi, discussing Sikh philosophy and GurBani (Sikh scripture) in relation to mental health

Gajan Singh - sevadar (volunteer) for Sikh Helpline, discussing how they deal with issues of mental health

Dr Ravjot Kaur - psychiatrist, giving a professional opinion on Sikh community issues of mental health

Sundeep Kaur - family therapy associate, providing a studied opinion on Sikh community mental health issues

Jaspal Kaur - psychiatric nurse and Sikh community sevadar, relating her own experiences of doing seva (selfless service) in relation to mental health issues within the Sikh community
