Event description
Join our panel for a livestreamed discussion about the possibility of a no-deal Brexit.

About this Event

Less than six months before the transition period is due to end, there is concern about a lack of progress in negotiations particularly with the UK having missed the deadline to seek an extension of the transition period. The EU’s chief negotiator Michel Barnier has complained about a perceived lack of respect and engagement from the British government, and “serious divergences” over how to progress remain.

With the UK’s economy suffering through the coronavirus crisis, how can our government ensure that business is protected? If on 1 January 2021 we crash out of the EU with no deal, what role will the UK have in working alongside our neighbouring countries during the pandemic? What will happen to those who cannot apply for settled status?

You will have the opportunity to put your questions to our panel, which includes Guardian Brexit correspondent, Lisa O’Carroll; Brussels correspondent, Jennifer Rankin; director of The UK in a Changing Europe and professor of European politics and foreign affairs at King’s College London, Anand Menon; and chair Sonia Sodha, chief leader writer for the Observer and Guardian columnist.
