What makes us human? Is it our ability to use language, to reason, to love? How can we still say we’re human if technologies are enhancing our abilities, or are allowing us to design robots that look set to do typically ‘human’ things?
In this interactive talk, a range of attitudes to humans and technologies will be explored and discussed, and participants will have a chance to ask whether they are more ‘human’ …or perhaps even ‘cyborg’.
Dr Scott Midson, who has recently finished a PhD at The University of Manchester on Theology and Cyborgs, will lead the event and respond to questions about what a cyborg is and what it might mean to be one. A fun, lively and interesting evening promised. Refreshments available.
