Are you addressing the top 3 threats to UK Business?
Fri 21 April 2017, 08:30 – 11:30 BST
Raconteur recently identified Brexit, the death of globalisation and Cyber Crime, as the top 3 threats to UK business. Today, we are focusing on cyber crime.
According to a recent joint report from Institute of Directors (IoD) and Barclays, based upon a survey of IoD members on cyber security, a significant gap still exists between even perception of the threat and action to address it. According to the Director General of the IoD, “The results, even for small and medium-sized businesses, (of a cyber security attack) could be catastrophic. This isn’t an IT issue, it’s a business survival issue.”
Very often businesses struggle to make their own case for investing in adequate cyber security. Unfortunately, this normally only becomes apparent when it is too late.
Too many SMEs are still of the view that this is a problem faced by large businesses. We examine the local position and look at ways in which the business case can be made in such a way that the board appreciates the need.
The event is being run by the Oxford & Thames Valley Cyber Security Clusters and Cyber Oxford with the support of the European Space Agency at Harwell.
