Event description
A guided walk through a beautiful Surrey heathland in winter

About this Event

All Trust events and activities taking place from 1st September onwards will be carried out in line with current government guidelines and Health & Safety practices at that time. As this will change over the coming weeks and months, we ask that you check regularly on the website for updates as any of these events may be subject to change or cancellation.

Please help to protect our staff and other members by not attending any of these events if you or anyone in your household is feeling ill or have symptoms of Covid-19.

It was Thomas Hardy who famously described the “desolate” landscape of a heathland in winter. While these incredible habitats are buzzing and lively in the summer months, they can appear cold and quiet through the long winter.

There is a beauty in the peace that can be found on our heaths on a frosty morning, and while they may seem quiet, if you know where to look, you might be surprised at the range of species that rely on these wild spaces throughout the year.

Join our expert guide and discover how much wildlife continues to inhabit these rich habitats through the colder months and how they are managed to protect this vital landscape.
