I never used a bike as a child - am i too old now?

No! Here at Sustrans, we're specialists in teaching anyone to use a bike. We start you off on a balance bike, and work with you one on one until you have the confidence to bike on your own. Darlington has many cycle paths and car-free places to ride a bike.

Not always! Sustrans will lend you a bike during sessions with us, and we are exploring ways to loan out basic pedal bikes for a week or so. Used cycles can cost as little as £30, if available, at Sustrans Stockton Hub. Stephen and Rose will have advice on the best places to find new / used cycles.

Is it hard to make sure your bike is secure?

A decent lock, and making sure to always park your bike to an unmovable object at a secure location are the best ways to keep your bike secure. We’ll have advice on locks, too.
