In the beginning of the technology development, Pangeo Subsea was focused on subsea applications for the oil and gas market. With the downturn, PanGeo refocused efforts on the renewables market and today have about 80% of their sales attributed to the offshore renewable energy market. PanGeo’s subsea imaging technology has many applications and the most natural move from oil and gas was to pre-route, cable and UXO surveys for windfarm installations. The shift was not difficult in terms of technology application; however understanding the players and the market required the most effort.

COES Caledonia (UK) Limited is a subsidiary of the maritime giant China Ocean Engineering Shanghai (COES), historically known as Shanghai Salvage Company (SSC) and established in 1951 as a division of the Chinese Ministry for Transport. COES has committed to spending almost $1 billion, over the coming years, in new state of the art vessels to support the international oil and gas and offshore renewables markets.

COES has recently established a UK project office on the Dundee waterfront. This has been very well received by developers, client operators, port authorities, local government (Dundee), Scottish Government, Scottish Development International, Scottish Enterprise, industry trade associations, OGA regulator, OGUK and tier 1 management contractors (potential partners to COES).

COES pride themselves on being forward thinking and innovative and as such are striving to meet the demand of the growing offshore renewables market, which of course comes with its own particular challenges.

TECA, Aberdeen's state of the art event complex is set to open this summer. One of the specified key objectives while delivering the new facility was that it had to be built to the highest environmental standards. Aberdeen City Council will present about the new Energy Centre and AD Plant at the facility, discussing how energy from food waste will power, heat and cool the building at the new TECA Development.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) are giving local companies the opportunity to learn more about the new DeepWind Offshore Wind cluster which will cover the Highlands and Islands area as well as Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. This is part of the UK’s £250m Offshore Wind Sector Deal and is one of eight such clusters across the UK.

The cluster is looking to involve companies in supply chain development, innovation and infrastructure development across the whole of the cluster area and is focused on the £7bn of offshore wind projects in the Moray Firth as well as the future opportunity related to the next offshore leasing round in Scotland which will kick off in October this year.

DeepWind Offshore Wind Cluster is looking to utilise oil and gas expertise, and particularly subsea knowhow and technology, to transition it into offshore wind. Innovation in this space can find new opportunities in offshore wind.

Please note this event is free for AREG members only, there will be a £25 charge for non-members to attend.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please register your attendance in advance via Eventbrite. Should you have any questions about the event please contact events@bigpartnership.co.uk.

We look forward to welcoming you to the event.
