¡Arepa! ¡Arepa! ¡Arepa! at Trove June 2015 - Caribbean Coastal Supperclub
Thursday, 11 June 2015 from 19:30 to 23:00 (BST)
After bringing the humble arepa to the markets of Manchester we've now decided to try and get all you Mancunians loving the rest of the lesser known Colombian dishes and the delightful Trove have offered to be our hosts on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
This month our menu is inspired by Colombia's beautiful Caribbean coast - while we may not be able to bring you the weather we'll do our damndest to bring you the food!
Cóctel de Limón con Coco
During our last visit to Colombia, people were going wild for this refreshing rum, lime and coconut beverage. Let’s hope Levenshulme does the same.
Carimañolas are hefty, deep-fried bad boys made from yuca stuffed with ground beef and served with homemade suero costeño (coastal soured cream).
Ceviche de Camarones
This prawn ceviche is a Colombian Caribbean favourite and packs plenty of sweet and citrus flavours. Served with saltine crackers and hot sauce.
You’ll be eating this fried fish just like the locals of Cartagena do: coated in lime and a light batter, served with coconut rice and patacón (twice fried plantain). The only thing missing will be the idyllic beach. And the tropical weather.
Torta de Piña, Banano y Coco
To round off the evening you’ll receive a delicious sponge cake made with yet more coconut plus banana and pineapple, drizzled with condensed milk to give you that sweet, sweet hit.
Please get in touch for allergy information, dietary requirements and vegetarian/vegan options
Now because we do use a variety of sometimes difficult to source ingredients we have to warn you that some of the items might be slightly tweaked when served on the night. We'll provide table water on the night as well as a welcome cocktail but we would encourage you to bring along a wine or a beer to enjoy along with your meal.
If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to tweet us up or drop us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
When & Where
We are two residents of Manchester bringing our favourite food to the streets of Northern England and beyond. We are 25% Colombian and have spent a great deal of time in Colombia of which most of that time was spent eating arepas. Our hope is that the good people of Great Britain will embrace this humble street food and fall in love with it just like we did!
