About this event
The Children’s Society are pleased to announce the first of four webinars focused on improving support for young carers within armed forces families; A guide to the Armed Forces Covenant for young carers services.
Life in a military family can bring fantastic adventure – but it also comes with its own unique pressures. For some children and young people, those pressures are made even greater by the fact that they’re also caring for a loved one at home. Whether it’s navigating a transfer of health care, supporting a sibling through transition, or taking on extra responsibilities when a parent is deployed, young carers in forces families often shoulder more than most. And with frequent moves and changing circumstances, it can be hard for them to get the consistent support they deserve.
That’s why we are calling on young carers services to sign the armed forces covenant, a voluntary pledge that commits organisations to make every effort to ensure those serving or who have served, and their families are treated fairly and not disadvantaged in accessing services. Over 11,000 organisations have already signed the covenant to show their support, could your organisation be next?
The webinar will cover:
- Overview of the covenant
- Guide to signing the covenant
- Details of suggested pledges for young carers services
- Case study: Applying the pledges in Plymouth
- Questions and Answers
