What is the “Art and Ashes” workshop?

This is a hands-on, creative workshop where you’ll learn to create a unique piece of memorial art incorporating symbolic materials or, if you wish, a small amount of cremation ashes. The experience is gentle, supportive, and suitable for all levels—no previous art experience needed.

Do I have to use cremation ashes?

Accepted Answer

Not at all! You’re welcome to bring any meaningful keepsake (like a small token, fabric, or note) or simply create a symbolic piece. Using ashes is entirely optional and handled respectfully.

How long is the workshop?

Each session lasts approximately 2.5 hours, but we will pause for lunch and people take break as and when they want to. There is time included for introductions, guided creation, and finishing touches.

What do I need to bring?

All materials are provided. If you’d like to incorporate something personal (ashes, keepsake, etc.), please bring it in a sealed, labelled container. If you’re unsure, feel free to email ahead for advice.

Is it safe to handle ashes?

Yes—health and safety are a top priority. Ashes are handled with care, and you’ll receive clear instructions.

Question 6

Can I bring a friend or family member for support?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. The workshops are intended to be a supportive and gentle space. Please inform me of the additional person - they will not be able to make something unless they are a paying attendee, but they can help you make your work.

Question 7

Will I take something home?

Accepted Answer

Yes!  The aim is that you will have something to take home with you on the day - this all is dependent on each individual and the speed to which you create. The curing time is up to 40 minutes, so it may be that you pop into town and come back to collect your work.

Is the workshop suitable for children?

Workshops are open to ages, minimum age with an accompanying adult would be 7. Under 14's to also be supervised. If you have questions about suitability, just ask.

What if I have no artistic experience?

Accepted Answer

No worries at all—beginners are very welcome. The workshop is guided step-by-step, and you’ll be supported throughout.

What’s your refund policy?

Accepted Answer

If you’re unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible. 50% refund is available up to 24 hours of the event. No refund is given on the day of the event.
