Event description
An illustrated lecture by Maria Cristina White-da Cruz on the Eucharist in relation to Early Church writings and its representation in art.

About this Event

This lecture explores the imagery of both body and blood of Christ and considers the specific role of the altarpiece as a liturgical visual aid for priest and congregation, relating the ultimate purpose of the Eucharist to nourish God’s people, the Body of Christ.

The lecture will be preceded by a Vigil Mass of All Saints at 6pm to which all are welcome.

Maria Cristina White-da Cruz is a lecturer in art history, who has taught in the UK as well as Australia, Italy, France and the USA. She is a member of the Art and Architecture Committee of Westminster Cathedral and has acted in an advisory role to the V&A, the Kimbell Art Museum and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. She is a active and valued member of Art and Christianity.

The lecture is part of the Visual Communion programme organised by Art and Christianity, and in association with Farm Street Church.
