Art and Togetherness: LGBTQ+ Collections Drop-in

Art and Togetherness: LGBTQ+ Collections Drop-in

By Sheffield Museums

Overview

Join freelance curator Jon Sleigh for a friendly, relaxed session exploring LGBTQ+ stories from Sheffield’s collection.

Queer histories have always existed, though they’ve sometimes been hidden or misinterpreted. In this informal session, Jon will introduce a range of artworks and objects that reveal how queerness has shaped the city’s collection. The session offers a welcoming space for open conversations about identity, representation and LGBTQ+ visibility in art.

Take a closer look at works such as David Hockney’s Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness and Gwen John’s Portrait of Winifred John and discover the LGBTQ+ histories they tell.

Free, drop-in event – everyone welcome.
