Art Cafe' PLUS! "Contemporary Portraiture in Clay" with sculptor Jo Pearl
Event Information
About this event
What makes us human? How to represent universal human emotions, particularly in an increasingly dehumanising, digital age? A fascinating topic within the canon of art history, with intersections in sociology and psychology. Artist Jo Pearl will explain her interpretation of this theme with her intriguing work in ceramics and clay stop-frame animation from her studio in London.
About the guest speaker: Jo Pearl (London, b.1968) trained in Ceramics at Central Saint Martins, London and has won a number of ceramic competitions and awards. Jo’s current artistic practice is largely figurative, bringing it to life using "claymation". She is also exploring how to create public engagement with clay practice. Prior to becoming an artist, Jo worked in current affairs TV as well as the architecture and design industries. (Contact: jopearl.com).
