About this event
Groups of talented artists with a common vision typically find each other, leading to innovative collaborations. In this summer season series of online lectures with Dr Marie-Anne Mancio we take a look at contrasting cliques of painters who shared either artistic vision or geography, and in many cases, faced similar societal distress.
The African diaspora is the worldwide collection of communities descended from native Africans or people from Africa. In the fifth of this 'Double Acts' series we explore the work of the artistic geniuses of African diaspora in the UK and the USA. Artists to be discussed include: David Hammons, Theaster Gates, Kara Walker and Julie Mehretu in the USA; and Frank Bowling, Lubaina Himid, Chris Ofili and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye in the UK.
Grab a glass of wine if you are on Europe time, or a coffee if in the USA and join the London Art Salon for our series of Zoom lectures with Dr Marie-Anne Mancio.
