Overview

Alchemist Gallery's Autumn/Winter joint exhibition with artists Catherine Glennie, Rachel Everitt and Doda Smith

This exhibition will take you on an Autumnal woodland adventure, celebrating all things art and nature.

Catherine Glennie

A new artist to Alchemist Gallery, Catherine Glennie's intricately stitched textile studies zoom into fragments of the natural world. "I moved to the Highlands around 15 years ago and my work is very much inspired by the beauty I see in my immediate surroundings. I like to walk slowly, scanning the ground for often overlooked details. Lichens are a particular passion of mine. There are multiple species in my garden and the surrounding areas."

Doda Smith

Doda has had her work in the gallery for some time now and we are delighted to have some of her miniature paintings as part of this Winter's exhibition. From her home on the Black Isle, Doda finds endless inspiration in the ever-shifting natural world that surrounds her. She has long been fascinated by the minutiae of nature, and can lose herself for hours working on the intricacies. Whether she uses acrylic, watercolour, coloured pencil, or gouache—even when painting a larger image—she cannot stop herself from focusing on the tiny details.

Rachel Everitt

Rachel Everitt is also a new artist to Alchemist Gallery. She works predominately with drypoint etching and other printmaking techniques, creating limited editions of prints and supplies her work to a small selection of galleries. Rachel also works part time at the the Edinburgh College of Art as a lecturer in the Animation department.
