Community Corner is a service run by the NHS aiming to combat social isolation and help people to live well in their communities. We run activities to promote health and wellbeing every Tuesday at Earl's Court and Thursday at Violet Melchett.
We are lucky to embark on Art Journeys with art counsellors (Therapeutic Arts Counsellor, Havening Techniques Practitioner, Emmett Technique Practitioner and Emmtech Tutor, Artist; MBACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists)) for a workshop all about how you can use art to improve your mental health and wellbeing. These workshops are for everyone, no art experience is necessary to participate. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and please let us know if you have any additional needs.
An Art Journey is made up of:
- Introduction by the facilitators, a brief introduction on the Art Journeys theme for the workshop.
- Housekeeping
- Relaxation: A few minutes of breathing, Havening Techniques, to centre and focus us in the present moment.
- Art phases: A journey of evolving creative art exercises, helping to connect us with our imagination, discover and express some of our emotions and feelings. The final creative artwork encompasses the previous art phases, and evolves through exploration.
- Discussion: a group discussion and a chance to share images, thoughts and ideas.
Feel free to email us at nhsnwl.vmcommunitycorner@nhs.net for more information about wellness events that we offer, or we can direct you to amazing services available in the community.
