Art Night: A Tittle-Tattle-Tell-A-Tale Heart, A Reading
Date and time
Description
As part of Art Night Open, Zabludowicz Collection presents a reading by Athena Papadopoulos of her book, A Tittle-Tattle-Tell-A-Tale Heart. Read from start to finish by the artist herself, in the context of the remarkable Treasures of the British Library display, the performance inverts the way in which we often consume novels, serialised in excerpts and chapters, delivering the experimental narrative of the artist’s first book in one fell swoop. A novel that is variously a diary, a detective narrative, a love story, and a collage, the book is an artwork comprising two parts. The first composed in eyeliner, and the second a frantic retelling of the previous. The live event will further this ‘Russian-doll/telephone game’ effect, shifting meaning, both in the narrative, and in how the book is experienced by an audience.
This event takes place in The Sir John Ritblat Gallery at The British Library, as part of the Art Night Open programme. Art Night is London’s largest free contemporary art festival, this year taking place in extraordinary spaces around Walthamstow and King’s Cross on 22nd June. www.artnight.london
