What is the AoH Comeback Day?

This is an opportunity to (re-)connect with fellow Art of Hosting practitioners. It’s a chance to see how others have been practising the methodologies of the Art of Hosting in diverse fields and a place to continue our learning and deepen our understanding of AoH. This will be the 5th AoH Comeback Day organized in the Netherlands, we aim to make these gatherings part of our regular practice.

Together we will be exploring the question “What does the world currently require from us, and how can my art of hosting practice be in service of that?

We feel it’s time to look with fresh eyes at our AoH practice and discuss together what Art of Hosting really is. The world around us is transforming at a fast pace and the challenges we are facing require a new level of leadership. So how can we create a space that values diversity of voices? How can we stand in the middle of chaos and still lead? We will take this opportunity to reflect on what this means for the Dutch/Belgium context, and pay attention to what is emerging in our individual lives and surroundings.

You are invited to this comeback day to discuss these relevant topics together, connect with other practitioners to feel supported in your journey, and reflect on who we are as an AoH community in the Netherlands.

Who should come?

This programme invites all previous participants of Art of Hosting & Participatory Leadership training in the Netherlands (since 2003!) that are involved in the Dutch/Belgium context. We wish to bring together practitioners across different sectors, experiences, languages and levels of practice. (The event will be held in English).

Our calling question will take us through the different layers of the practice and guide us in an active reflection about the role we can play as hosts and facilitators in our current society.

Program: NOW ONLINE!

We were planning to gather in person on April 18th for our AoH NL Comeback Day, but as the Covid-19 situation invites us to take strong measurements to fight this health crisis together (aka staying home to care for everyone’s health) with the hosting team organizing this event we had to rethink our original plan.

Our proposal is to replace the in-person gathering with a 4 hours online session on April 18th.

In addition to this we would like to host two online conversations in the weeks to come, to re-connect as members of the Dutch AoH Community, and start doing some sense-making to tune into what is happening around us at this very moment.

So here is what is in the planning:

2 online sessions on April 19th to replace the in-person meeting:

- 1st online call: 10.30 - 12.30

- 1 hour Lunch break: 12:30 - 13:30 (offline - time to recharge our energies)

- 2nd online call: 13:30 - 15:30

→ In order to attend this online gathering you will need to reserve your spot through eventbrite.

2 online (sense-making calls) in the run-up to the online gathering:

1st online sense-making call: Friday April 3rd: 9:30 - 11.00

2nd online sense-making call: Friday April 10th: 16:00 - 17:30

These sense-making calls are optional, and everyone in the AoH Dutch community is welcomed to join, even people that will not be able to make it to our “Comeback day, online gathering” on April 18th.

Registration & hosting team

Please reserve your ticket in a timely manner, preferably before April 11th so that we can best plan and organize our activities. We will send a confirmation to all registered participants and a follow up with additional information prior to the day itself.

We will be using an online platform called ZOOM that will allow us to gather online and still have meaningful conversations with other AoH practitioners.

We ask for a small contribution of 10 euros to cover costs we had linked to this event and to still support our Art of Hosting activities in the future. Any additional contribution is very welcomed in order to support these activities in the long term.

FAQs

Who is this comeback day for?

This programme invites all previous participants of Art of Hosting & Participatory Leadership trainings in the Netherlands, or that are currently living and working in the Netherlands/Belgium. The idea behind this day is to reconnect with the local community of practitioners and see what are the activities that are taking place locally.

I have never attended an Art of Hosting / Art of Participatory Leadership training, but I still would like to attend. Can I still join?

The Comeback Day is designed to (re)connect practitioners that have previously experienced an Art of Hosting/Participatory Leadership training (3-days). Therefore this day is only for people that did this training before. It would be lovely to meet you in another occasion though!

I have attended an AOH/AOPL training in another country than the Netherlands/Belgium but I currently live & work there. Can I still attend?

Yes! The comeback day aims at bringing together the local community of practitioners, so if you are currently living in one of these countries and you are actively involved with the local communities, you are more than welcome to come and (re)connect with fellow practitioners.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Well, the event has now moved online... so you can join from the comfort of your own couch. ;-)

I have never used Zoom before, is it difficult to use?

Zoom, is a relatively simple platform to use. If it's the first time for you to use this software, you will need to first download a small plug-in and install it either on your computer (recommended) or on your phone. In case you would like to test the platform, we will be available to help you set it up correctly and ensure you can join us online. Please let us know if you are new to zoom and have troubles setting it up, so that we can support you in a timely manner.
