Art of Mindfuness Workshop - Working Age Adults
Wed 5 April 2017, 18:00 – 19:30 BST
Residing in the present moment is the greatest opportunity to relax and combat the effects of day-to-day stress. In today’s world of infinite distraction, our minds perpetually travelling backwards and forwards in time, it can be a challenge to bring ourselves into the here-and-now.
Art is a great way to stay in the moment – especially if it is combined with understanding from evidence-based mindfulness practice. Therapeutic art activities and mindfulness sit comfortably together because they bring one’s attention into the present moment in an accepting and non-judgemental manner.
Each individual workshop will consist of a consideration of mindfulness art practise, observing one’s experience in the moment and cultivating a kindness towards oneself and others. A guided mediation will be offered, along with the chosen basic principle of mindfulness and art making reflecting the theme of the workshop, each designed to offer participants short mindful and art exercises that they can replicate in their own time.
Simon Woodward is a HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registered Art Psychotherapist and BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) accredited private practitioner. He has had several years’ experience of providing art therapy in community adult mental health services through the NHS and third sector providers, and ten years’ experience of social care provision. www.arttherapywithsimon.co.uk
Participants don't necessarily have to be good at art but just come with a willingness to give it a go.
This evening class is offered to working-age adults. See you there!
