Art Workshop with Shaheen Ahmed and Rachel Pilking
Event Information
About this event
We are creating a map of Balsall Heath showing it as a place of nature and wildlife rather than roads for the Our Garden - Sacred Spaces of Balsall Heath project.
Professional artists Shaheen Ahmed and Rachel Pilkington will help to deepen our relationship with nature by teaching us to paint and draw the places where we feel closest to it. If you draw a spot in Balsall Heath, we might feature it in our nature map, but the important thing is that you develop your skills and grow in your appeciation of the natural world.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are an experienced artist or have never picked up a brush before. (Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout.)
This is a free workshop. Our Garden – Sacred Spaces of Balsall Heath, is a Creative City Project generously funded by Birmingham City Council programmed by the Birmingham 2022 Festival.
The community-led project is a joint initiative between Christians and Muslims in Balsall Heath, from the United Church of St Paul’s, Mary Street; the Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust, Ombersley Road and the Al-Abbas Islamic Centre, Clifton Road.
