Event description

Description

Practicing artist Catherine Knight will tutor you through her 4 week short course ‘Colour in the Landscape’.

Running weekly on Monday evenings from 2nd To 23rd September 2019, 6:45 to 8:45, this course will build creative confidence in using acrylic paint to create an expressive landscape painting.

Participants will gain skills in processes and materials by exploring the work of other artistsX. Through playful exploration of a variety of painting techniques and colour mixing, students will produce their own acrylic landscape painting.

week 1 - Explore the work of Peter Doig and experiment with different ways to apply paint in layers and washes, and his distinctive use of colour.

week 2 - Explore the work of Barbara Rae and experiment with abstract landscapes and dynamic colour use.

week 3 - Start working on your own composition based on a photo. We will discuss how to create an interesting composition.

week 4 - Complete your painting.

All materials and equipment included
