How strenuous is the hike?

The route is around 4-5 kilometres, with 250 metres of ascent. The group leader will go at a steady pace and stop lots to enjoy the views, take photos, and explain the sights.

Is this suitable for children?

Yes! It's an ideal way for them to explore nature, and burn off some energy. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and be able to walk the whole route without being carried.

What is the path/terrain like?

All routes to the summit of Arthur's Seat are steep, rocky and loose. Your guide will choose the safest, most appropriate path to the top. Some paths can be misleading - especially on the descent and in poor visibility - so your guide will be able to show you the way.

What will the weather be like?

Cold, warm, rainy, sunny, windy, calm. Any or all of these. It will probably be colder and windier than in the city.
