Description

Artisan - Burns Bright: A programme of music to celebrate the work of Robert Burns.

The evening will be performed by Artisan Duo who on this occasion are joined by Traditional Young Musician of the Year 2018, Hannah Rarity, and William Stafford, SCO Clarinetist. The programme will include music by Mozart, and three classical Scottish composers; Oswald, McGibbon and Robert Bremner. Guests will hear the world première of 'Painters in my Garden' by Prof. Nigel Osborne, inspired by paintings from twill inche Glasgow Boys of Cockburnpath, and which includes five Robert Burns songs sung unaccompanied in their traditional form. The evening will also feature songs by Suzanne Parry and writer Jules Horne. Parry and Horne's Song Cycle, commissioned by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, in partnership with the Borders Heritage Festival 2017, also draws inspiration from natural heritage of the Scottish Borders.
