Join us for the third Artist Filmmaker Network Social, which will feature a talk from Matimba Kabalika, Talent Development Manager for the BFI Network, and film producer Maria Caruana Galizia. The talks will be followed by drinks and a live DJ - a great chance for artists and filmmakers to mix in a relaxed environment.

Maria will be talking about her Channel 4, BFI Network and Creative England funded shorts in particular her ongoing work with Palestinian-British artist filmmaker Saeed Taji Farouky and their latest collaboration supported by the Kevin Spacey Foundation 'Strange Cities are Familiar'.

Matimba will be discussing the work of the BFI NETWORK, which exists to nurture and support new filmmaking talent in every region of the UK. Matimba will be talking about the BFI's opportunities for North East filmmakers, including funding for short film, talent development programmes and iFeatures. She will also be discussing what BFI looks for when commissioning and what the process is for submission – essential information for early career filmmakers interested in getting funding for their first short or feature film ideas. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
