Artist Sharing by Fredie CHAN about Hong Kong and Artistic Freedom
Date and time
Artistic Freedom amid the White Terror in Hong Kong
About this event
Ever Since 1989, Hong Kong has been the city hosting the largest June 4 vigil to commemorate the Tiananmen Square massacre. However, Hongkongers no longer have the freedom to retell this brutal history in their hometown.
National security law imposed in Hong Kong in 2020 is killing the freedom of expression.
The artist sharing session by Fredie Chan on June 9th at Bloc Projects will screen a film that the artist no longer feels safe to show in Hong Kong. Fredie will also talk about how Hong Kong practitioners continue their work in the current political atmosphere.
