Event description

Description

Join us for an informal chat and brunch with the artist Paddy Killer who will talk about her practice and exhibition Drawn Thread Work - Samplers and Specimens.

Paddy Killer draws onto all manner of materials; from paper to silk. This exhibition includes works from the last decade as well as new pieces produced especially for the show at The Customs House. The new works are made on glass and silk and are more experimental and based on research and fascination with historical lace from 16th, 17th and 19th Centuries, including samples left from her grandmother’s lace collection. The drawings on silk are life-size and snippets of actual pieces of work made with machine embroidery that Paddy has produced over the last 30 years.

Paddy Killer has an international reputation for her work in textile art and especially machine embroidery and illustrations on silk and paper. She exhibits widely and is included in many public and private collections worldwide. As well as her textile art work and illustration, Paddy also gives lectures and teaches workshops.
