How does playful engagement change the way we experience art? Building on her Masters research, artist Emma Denby continues to explore how connection and interaction can positively shape a viewer’s relationship with an artwork. Her work focuses on creating spaces where people feel comfortable, confident, and free to express their own sense of playfulness — on their own terms.
In this talk, Emma will share an overview of her practice and research to date, offering insights into how she uses her work to foster curiosity, autonomy, and dialogue.
Following the talk, Emma will facilitate a crit group — an open, supportive space where artists, makers, and thinkers can share works-in-progress, test ideas, and receive constructive feedback. Attendees are warmly encouraged to bring along something they’d like to discuss, whether that’s a physical artwork, a sketch, a prototype, or a concept.
This event offers both inspiration and participation: a chance to hear about Emma’s research into creativity and connection, and to take part in a lively, collaborative discussion with fellow creatives.
