// ABOUT SETH PIMLOTT

'The films I make have a lyrical or narrative element that weaves together the experiences and contributions of various people. This is analogous to the way I ‘make’ my films too, through innovative technical apparatus and elaborate hand-built sets, and a theatrical mode of presentation. I often work with a mix of amateurs and professionals, taking, for example, Lizzie Borden’s Born in Flames and early films by Derek Jarman as a touchstone for the kind of energy I want my films to posses. This collective spirit of making results in films that are more than the sum of their parts, especially when dealing with something as precious as feelings of identity and belonging and personal narratives. In this way, the process involves creating a community for which the
film is meaningful, to which the film belongs, and that it represents.'

Seth's recent projects include 'A Concatenation of Rhythms', two films made with the Polish and Latin American diasporas in south London as Gasworks' participatory artist in residence, and 'Season of doubt' a film made with Ladan Hussein from the band Cold Specks, that was selected for New Contemporaries in 2017. He was a recipient of the Pete Lloyd Lewis Award at Chisenhale Art Place in 2016.
